Website Terms of Use

Last updated: 18 April 2026

These terms cover your use of www.southweststudios.org (the "site") and any account you create on it. By using the site you agree to these terms.

Booking a rehearsal session is a separate contract governed by the Booking Terms & Conditions.

Who we are

South West Community Studios CIC (trading as South West Studios), a Community Interest Company registered in Scotland. Registered office: Unit 9, Montgomery Place, Irvine, KA12 8EG. Company number: SC851353.

Using the site

You agree to use the site lawfully. You must not:

  • Use the site in any way that breaks UK law.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, our servers, or anyone else's account.
  • Interfere with the site's operation — for example, by running automated scrapers, denial-of-service attacks, or distributing malicious code.
  • Post, upload, or share content that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights.
  • Impersonate anyone else when signing up or communicating with us.

Breaching these rules may be a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We may suspend or delete your account, and in serious cases report you to the police.

Creating an account

To book a rehearsal session you need an account. When you register:

  • You confirm you are at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has given consent.
  • The details you give us must be accurate.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account.
  • You must let us know immediately if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, misuse the service, or if we need to for legal or safety reasons. You can close your account at any time through the website contact form and we will delete it within 30 days (we may need to keep some data for legal reasons as explained in the Privacy Policy).

Mailing list

If you opt in to our mailing list, we will send occasional emails about events, workshops, and news. You can unsubscribe any time using the link at the bottom of each email or by emailing us. Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't close your account.

Our content

The site, its design, text, photos, and logo are owned by South West Community Studios CIC or licensed to us. You may view and download pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, or use our content for commercial purposes without written permission.

Your content

If you send us content (e.g. a review, a message, a photo shared at our events), you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it for promoting our work. You can ask us to stop at any time. You keep ownership of anything you create.

Third-party links

The site may link to other websites. We're not responsible for the content of those sites or what they do with your data.

What we can't promise

We try to keep the site running smoothly and the information accurate, but:

  • We don't guarantee the site will always be available or free of bugs.
  • The information on the site is general — it's not legal, financial, or professional advice.
  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else where UK law says we can't limit liability.

Subject to the paragraph above, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of the site is limited to £100.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we'll email registered account holders. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Scots law. Any dispute will be dealt with by the Scottish courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
